Donation from the first purchases of the Mexican Tiles…

I do not own any rights to the logo/emblem of World Land Trust. All rights remain to them. It is only used this one time to let you know there is a donation made.

When I introduced the Mexican Tiles last weekend I made a small personal message with it. As I felt I sometimes feel the need to give something back to the world through my talent, I had good hopes this pattern would allow me to do so. And so I had an idea in my head of a certain amount of donation and where it need to go to. In this way if you purchased the pattern you would still get an actual product for your money, but together we could make a small symbol to make this world a better place now and for the future of our children.

So, what happened over the last days ? You all purchased this new pattern a lot and it even made the Ravelry top 20 for a day or two which always feels like you won something : ) I collected all purchase amounts til now and combined it together to a generous amount of 500 British pounds. Which will be approx. 650-700 dollars/euros which depend a little on the valuta.

And where is this money donated too you might ask ? Well I’m going to tell you right away. For a while now I follow the British World Land Trust. An organization which buys acres of ground in endangered parts of nature on our planet. On these acres they try to bring back the natural eco-system and habitat for wildlife. Where wildlife and insects are already in need of help due the fact too many trees are taken down or there habitat is burned away, they also build reserves for those in need. Besides that, they also give education, try to give aid to natural disasters and many more things. But it is such an important thing they do, because if we humans keep breaking down nature like big parts of our rainforests, are oxygenlevels keep falling down and our temperatures will keep rising. In my opinion it is a very solid organization which helps us make the world a better place again. As this trust is very active at the moment in South America and Mexico to preserve rainforests, I think the Mexican Tiles and this donation are very good combination.
