Spice Market CAL Part 10

Part 10

Yes ! The final week of the CAL has arrived. And I am cheerful about it because I finally can see all the finished projects….not because the CAL is over. Of course not ! It was so much fun seeing everyone crocheting along and taking time, effort and invest some yarn into my design. Thank you so much ! But before we end, we still have to crochet a border. And don’t worry, as the blanket holds so many color work and stitch work already I have kept the border simple and easy with just a few Rounds to go. As I assume you also might be busy blocking it when your done I also thought it would be nice that you can do it both in one week and really end this CAL in ten weeks.

Special stitch :

Picot – CH3, insert hook in first CH of three and make a SS through all loops.

As photo 1 shows you CH3. Insert your hook in the first CH out of the 3 as in photo 2. And by making a SS through both loops on the hook you close it as photo 3 shows. This is a Picot stitch.

If you like a sharp and neat border you crochet all five Rounds above. If you like a more subtile and less pointy border you could also stop after Round 4. This is for example done in the Rosewater and Cinnamon version.

We start in the ch2-sp where you kept Color B on hold after the last Round of Part 9. We’re gonna continue right away at this point with Color B.

Round 1 (RS) : CH1 (doesn’t count as st here and throughout entire part), * {1SC-CH2-1SC} in ch2-sp, 1SC in each st along side til next ch2-sp. Rep from * 3 more times. SS in top of first st. SS to next CH2-sp. [4 sides of 240SC and 4 times a CH2-sp]

Round 2 : CH1, * {1SC-CH2-1SC} in ch2-sp, (1SC in next 4 sts, CH5, sk 2 sts, 1SC in next 4 sts) 24 times. Rep from * 3 more times. SS in top of first st. SS to next CH2-sp. [4 sides of 194SC/ 24 times a CH5-sp and 4 times a CH2-sp (corners)]

Round 3 : CH1, * {1SC-CH2-1SC} in ch2-sp, 1SC in next st, ( 1SC in next 3 sts, sk next st, {3SC-CH2-3SC} in ch5-sp, sk next st, 1SC in next 3 sts) 24 times. 1SC in next st. Rep from * 3 more times. SS in top of first st. Put Color B aside. [4 sides of 292SC/ 24 times a CH2-sp and 4 times a CH2-sp (corners)]

Round 4 : Take Color A and attach it in any ch2-sp. CH1, * {1SC-CH2-1SC} in ch2-sp, 1SC in next 2 sts, (1SC in next 2 sts, sk next st, 1SC in next 3 sts, {1SC-CH2-1SC} in next ch2-sp, 1SC in next 3 sts, sk next st, 1SC in next 2 sts) 24 times. 1SC in next 2 sts. Rep from * 3 more times. SS in top of first st. Fasten off yarn. [4 sides of 294SC/ 24 times a CH2-sp and 4 times a CH2-sp (corners)]

Round 5 : Draw up Color B in nearest ch2-sp. CH1, * {1SC-CH2-1SC} in ch2-sp. 1SC in next 3 sts, (1SC in next st, sk next st, 1SC in next 4 sts, {1SC-PICOT-1SC} in ch2-sp, 1SC in next 4 sts, sk next st, 1SC in next st) 24 times. 1SC in next 3 sts. Rep from * 3 more times. SS in top of first st. Fasten off yarn. [4 sides of 296SC/24PICOTS and 4 times a CH2-sp]

End op Part 10. And it is done ! Weave in all remaining ends and after that it is time to block your project. Just follow the regular procedures for blocking and keep in mind that this also depends on what type of yarn you chose to use. Some yarns are better steamed, others can be soaked. Just see what works for you. Important is too anchor it in every point of the border while blocking. ( see blocking photo in photo section) . And after that, please show your finished blankets massively ! Thank you for joining and hope you enjoyed working on this CAL. Hope to see you next time !
