Pre-order for Memory; another book from the Guy with the Hook is now available…

The time is here, after working hard the last weeks, I will start taking pre-orders for my third book from now on. In this post, I will tell you all the details about it! I will do this in two languages as the book will also be available in English and Dutch.

Het is eindelijk zover, na weken van hard werken kan ik eindelijk de pre-orders openen voor mijn derde boek. In deze post vertel ik je alle details! Ik doe dit tweetalig gezien het feit dat het boek in zowel Engels als Nederlands verkrijgbaar is.

Memory is the third book from The Guy with the Hook. In this book, Mark returns to the world of traveling. He holds many treasured memories over his travel days to create this book, filled with new destinations, and travel stories, and each story is guided by a fitting crochet pattern.

Memory is het derde boek van the Guy with the Hook. In dit boek keert Mark terug naar de wereld van het reizen. Hij heeft vele dierbare herinneringen aan zijn reisdagen, welke hij ook gebruikte om dit boek tot stand te brengen. Het boek is gevuld met nieuwe reisbestemmingen, verhalen en uiteraard een bijpassend haakpatroon bij ieder verhaal.

Of course, the book will be available through many stores, and once again will, yarn brand Scheepjes also have the book in their warehouse. This means, all Scheepjes retailers over the entire world will have – or at least be able to get the book for you. Natuurlijk zal het boek ook te koop zijn via diverse winkels, en ook ditmaal zal Scheepjes het derde boek weer in hun collectie opnemen. Dit betekent dat iedere Scheepjes dealer over de hele wereld het boek zal hebben – of op zijn minst de mogelijkheid heeft het te bestellen voor de klant. Aangezien ontwikkelingen rondom verkooppunten nog steeds veranderen, zal ik de meest recente ontwikkelingen bijwerken op de boek pagina hier op deze website.

Pre-orders via Etsy

Okay, time to talk about pre-ordering the book through me personally! For sure, I am happy to offer my book through my own Etsy store this year! Last year I didn’t do any sales on the second book, but it also shut down the opportunity to sign your books when a wish is there. So, this year I will do my own sales and for overseas orders, this might be even a good option. I have researched shipping costs a lot these last weeks – and honestly, I can’t compete with large companies offering really good rates. But, when shipping a book untracked by airmail, the shipping costs are not that out of the rate and so I decided to work with that option. What it means I will explain in the next step:

Tijd om uit te leggen hoe een pre-order via mij persoonlijk werkt. Uiteraard ben ik superblij mijn boek te kunnen verkopen via mijn eigen Etsy shop. Afgelopen jaar maakte in de keuze zelf geen boekverkopen te doen, maar ik merkte ook dat velen van jullie daardoor de optie miste om een leuke signatuur in je boek te laten zetten. Dat kan dit jaar dus wel weer en ik hoop dan ook velen van jullie te mogen verwelkomen in de Etsy shop. Wat betreft verzending en het proces hoe een pre-order werkt is er nog wel wat te vertellen, dit doe ik dan ook in de uitleg hieronder:

• Click on the book listing and if you like to add it to your cart please fill out the two fields to answer. The first will ask which language you prefer – English or Dutch. The second field asks you to agree with the shipping terms and fact the book will be shipped on a later date. If you don’t agree to this and still make an order, I will cancel the order and refund it.
• Klik op de listing van het boek en wanneer je deze in je winkelwagentje wilt toevoegen, dien je nog twee vragen te beantwoorden. De eerste is welke taal je graag wilt – de Nederlandse of Engelse versie. Het tweede veld vraagt je toestemming voor het feit dat het boek ongetraceerd wordt verzonden en op een later tijdstip. Als je hier akkoord mee gaat, dan klik je op “I agree”. Klik je op “I do not agree” en je plaatst toch een order, dan zal ik deze niet aannemen en het bedrag retourneren.

You agree with the following terms. Shipment will be done at a later time according to a given timetable. Once you order a pre-order, you will receive a confirmation email from Etsy. Once I have prepared your pre-order I will also send out a shipping email. However, this is not a message your book has been shipped yet, only a message to let you know one book is packed and ready for shipment on the accorded timetable. You will not receive a new shipment email when the timetable takes place, as all books will be sent out in batches, untracked. I will share on my social media and here which batches are shipped when the time is there.

Je gaat met het volgende akkoord. De verzending van het boek zal op een later tijdstip plaats vinden zoals aangegeven in het tijdsframe. Wanneer je een pre-order plaatst, ontvang je hiervan een bevestigingsemail van Etsy. Hierna ontvang je een verzendmail van mij, wanneer ik je aangekochte boek heb voorbereid voor de pre-order. Dit betekent dus niet dat je boek al verzonden is, dit is enkel de bevestiging dat je boek is ingepakt en klaar is voor verzending op de aangegeven data. Je ontvangt wanneer de data plaats vinden niet opnieuw een verzend email aangezien alle boeken in grote hoeveelheden ongetraceerd het posttraject in gaan als brievenbuspost. Uiteraard meld ik wel op social media en hier wanneer welke partij de deur uit gaat.

Timetable for shipment pre-orders / Tijdsframe voor de verzending van de pre-orders:

– All NL and Belgium orders will be shipped around September 13-15. You will have the book by the weekend before the release date. / Alle orders voor Nederland en België worden verzonden tussen 13-15 September. Op deze manier heb je het boek voor het weekend in huis – wat net voor de verschijningssdatum is.

– All EU orders will be shipped around September 8-10. As most of the countries will take 4-7 days of shipment, you will also have your book the weekend before the release date. / Alle orders geplaatst vanuit EU landen worden verzonden tussen 8-10 September. Omdat de meeste landen een verzendtijd van 4-7 dagen hebben, zal je boek ook voor het weekend van de verschijningsdatum in huis zijn.

-Rest of the world orders are shipped right away and all pre-order done out of these countries are all shipped./ Alle andere landen worden direct verzonden en pre-orders uit deze landen zijn inmiddels allemaal verzonden.

Some important things to know about a pre-order before buying it/ Wat belangrijke punten om te weten voordat je een pre-order aankoopt:

•  if you like your book signed by me, please write a note in the comment section of your order. / Wanneer je je boek graag gesigneerd wilt hebben, geef dit dan aan in de opmerkingen bij het bestellen van het boek.
  
• any other physical items ordered with a pre-order book will be shipped together with the book according to the given timetable. Those items will not be shipped individually before the book is shipped. / Indien je meer fysieke items aankoopt met je pre-order, worden deze ook samen met je boek verzonden. Deze worden dus niet individueel verzonden.
  
• a full view of the book by video will appear at the end of August 2023. / Eind Augustus 2023 komt er ook een video waarin het volledige boek al te zien is.

Only for EU customers / Enkel voor eurolanden van toepassing:

EU only – when you’re a customer out of a country where the valuta is Euro, take note that the pricing of the pre-order can be slightly off the regular sales price. As the prices on Etsy are entered as dollar prices, the price of the pre-order can change due to valuta changes. However, I have tried to let that be in the favor of the customer.

NL: houd er rekening mee dat de prijs van dit boek iets kan afwijken van de standaard verkoopprijs in Nederland. Omdat via Etsy de verkoopprijs in dollars wordt berekend als basisprijs, kan dit in valuta omrekening en koerswaarde een klein verschil maken. Ik heb echter geprobeerd het verschil in het voordeel van de consument uit te laten vallen.
