Walk down memory lane project Part 5…

It is time for Part 5 of the Walk down memory lane project – a blanket that is built up out of different existing patterns designed by my hand over the years. This project is a crown on all the work I have done so far these past five years. If you totally missed this project and still want to catch up with all the details and information you need before you start – you can find that information in the introduction file, which you will find here. If you want to look into all parts published – look here.

The fifth part of this project holds a huge breath as we are done with long Rounds full of stitches. We start by making small squares out of the Biscornus patterns I have created. These five different designs are used in this part and the next two to come, so you will use these for a long time. If you use the color schedule I created, you will start by working with the green and blue color set in combination with the base colors. Many of you already know the Biscornus patterns, but for those who didn’t, here is a short introduction:

The biscornu’s patterns was a series of 5 that I designed on a different type of gems and crystals. A biscornu is a French pincushion that is folded differently to create a unique form and shape. Usually, these are often made in embroidery, but as I am a crochet designer, I thought..why not try this in crochet terms? And here is the result. Five fun biscornu, all made up out of different mosaic crochet squares. Although in the biscornu’s, you won’t see the actual square motif, they came in handy for this walk down memory lane project as they are pretty small and perfect to create a huge border to this blanket. You will make all the required amount of squares over this and the next part, ending up combining them in the part after that. It takes a lot of time to create and do this, so I took three weeks of time to work this process out without the feeling that it becomes a struggle.

But, to return to the fifth part of the Walk down memory lane project. The fifth part of it is made with the Biscornu patterns: Brown Agate, Rose Quartz, Orange Calcite, Deep Amethyst, and Fluorite. Whether you decide to stick with my color choices or use Tineke’s masterpiece colorway – which only holds three colors, or go crazy with your own range of picked colors, stick to the instructions given in the file for the fifth part of the Walk down memory lane. It will not only give you directions in the used colors but also, in some parts, how to use the pattern and even an extra Round to crochet which isn’t in the pattern.

So, I won’t keep you waiting for this fifth part; I only have to mention one last thing. To make the Walk down memory lane project, you do need several patterns I have created and are ready for purchase. If you had to purchase all of them, I can imagine it would become a very expensive thing to create. So, during the entire period of this project, I will weekly announce the following pattern to use and offer it with a huge discount up till two weeks after the last part is published. In this way, if you don’t have all the patterns used – it will not become an unreachable goal. For this part and the next two weeks, the five Biscornu patterns are used – which will be offered from $2.50 to $0.50, so you will save at least 80%! Take note that the discount is already taken off the price, and it still can variate due to different tax rates in different countries. If you need to purchase the patterns – all available languages will be there to download after a successful purchase. No need to purchase individual languages and see the information on the pattern’s page on which languages are available.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHEN PURCHASING! – when purchasing the biscornu patterns from Ravelry, when buying all five at once – a single discount of $10.00 is applied. However, if you already have one of the five biscornu patterns or more and just need to purchase some of them, buy these patterns one by one to get the same discount. Ravelry only lets you have one discount for each purchase and so this is the only way to get the same amount of discounts. So, when only needing three biscornu patterns, buy these three separately on Ravelry. On Etsy, this whole matter is no problem.

And here is the PDF file to download for the Walk down memory lane Part 5 in English (US) and Dutch. Once again, please download the introduction file before you start with any parts; everything can be found here. My advice is to keep the Walk down memory lane instructions besides the actual pattern used to keep things clear and organized for yourself.

See you next week!
