I already said it in my last post…I will be back soon with an important update. Here is that update, which involves my break from a design career.
Yes, you read those words perfectly fine. It’s a break from my design career. I will stop designing crochet and knitting patterns for at least two years and maybe longer if things feel this way. I have had this idea for a long time, and I feel it is a good decision.
After my crochet buddy, Tineke passed away last year, I also lost touch with designing. In the months after,I lost even more and I have finished some ongoing projects, but I can’t find the strength to get my ideas out and write them down. There is plenty of inspiration left, but my life has simply changed, and I have to listen and adapt to a new situation.
I also started a new job with a two-year education. This is an arduous study; after some first months, I feel there is no time and space left to design besides it. I have to spend many hours to succeed on this, and if I also leave the pressure of writing down patterns with it, somewhere in the following weeks/months, things will go wrong.
So, I haven’t been designing for a while now— although you didn’t even notice. Crocheting and knitting are mainly things I do to relax for now, and I intend to keep it this way over the next two years. But… I have a full library of patterns ready for release left, which I, of course, won’t keep as they are all way too pretty and fun to keep for myself. So, over this year, I will release all the last patterns I created last year (you can see all the names on the image already). I intend to release all of them before this year is over, so there will be a pause next year.
This announcement doesn’t mean all that I have done will be offline after a specific date. All patterns and magazines will stay available – even during my break.
As said, I haven’t designed for over three months now, please also take note that my decision will change how fast I answer messages on Etsy, Instagram, or Ravelry. When you have a problem regarding a purchase – I will help as fast as I can – but also take note that I work and am not available 24 hours a day.
So, that’s the news! The Guy with the Hook takes a looooooong break for other priorities. But don’t worry… at least there will still be one new magazine this year and a dozen new patterns to work with. Any particular pattern name already that strikes your attention?
